Played today with Kevin Pelton, DJ Foshee and a few others who I don't know too well.
We played the alternate course....blue tees when they weren't combined with a concrete tee and reds when blue/concrete were together for the most part except for a couple of holes. Shot a 57 which was good, but not great. My scrambling was on....saved at least four strokes. Putts were up and down....not on today. Approaches were on target again.....drives were up and down.
Shots of the day....
Hole 3 (Red): Drive hit a tree around 100 feet from tee. Forehand approach with Star Whippet X left me with a slightly uphill putt of about 35 feet. Hit it for a par save.
Hole 7 (Blue): Drive hit the tree on right just in front of tee. I haven't hit that tree in over a year. Second drive (15 feet in front of the tee) left me with a 45 foot putt. Kevin mentioned that my shot seemed at first to have landed closer to the hole. I agreed and said "it doesn't matter....this one's going in." I made the putt.
Hole 15 (Blue): Drive was around 300...maybe a little further. Left me with a 150 foot approach which had trees on the right-front. Wasn't a backhand situation. I thought about a forehand with the Whippet but chose the thumber with the same. Threw low under a branch....hit short and skipped next to the basket....slid about 20 feet past. Made the putt.
Several other shots helped me out....but those were the best.
Three weeks to go.
