The last day....two rounds at Pleasant Hill. I woke up feeling a little stiff in my back...made it to the course and threw some putts and drives. As soon as the round started, my back began to hurt. On the first hole of the first round I missed the first putt...one I should have made. From then on I made thirteen straight threes before finishing with two fours. I finished the first with a 57...I was satisfied with that because it was the best I had played all week. During the round, my back pain had started effecting my play. I couldn't really get much on the drives and I was having trouble even bending down to pick up my discs.
The second round started with a famine-to-feast moment for me. Hole 16 is a hard dogleg right and I tried a forehand to follow the fairway. The drive ended up in the woods....all I had left was an escape shot that would leave me no closer to the pin. My third shot was around 120 feet on a slight downhill. I did not want to start this round with a four. I picked my target...a branch high and to the right of the basket....and threw right into the chains. That shot got me started on the round of the week for me. Dad showed up on the following hole and walked with me the rest of the round. I really think that this helped....he was there for me....kept my spirits up. On several holes I just had it going....long putts made....escapes from trouble....just plain old good play. Two more fours were ahead at the end of the round.....from mistakes made by me. The difference was that I added two's to match and offset those. I started throwing my "Ace" Star TL again and it is now officially back in the bag. The Star Leopard is back also.
I'll be leaving Kansas City on Sunday morning....and I'll be back.
